Thessaloniki Animation Festival promotes the art of animation through its annual gathering where it presents the best animation films and organizes Workshops & Master Classes introduced by renowned national and international professionals from various disciplines. Founded in 2015 and based in the heart of Thessaloniki, TAF aims to encourage, add art and promote all aspects of creativity by hosting local as well as international events and activities for kids and adults alike!

Call for entries:

The International Film Festival of Thessaloniki wants to announce it's Open Call for Submissions. TAF will take place from 17-20th of October 2019.

The submission of all animated film entries must be in English or have English subtitles, duration must not exceed 20 min & all films submitted must be produced within the last 2 years or 1 for our special Tribute for Gender Equality category. Please check each Category's requirements under the festivals Ts&Cs.

TAF festival will inform all submitting parties if their film has been selected by Friday the 30th of August 2019. The successful submissions of the Gender Equality category will be notified prior to the Notification Date, between 1st to 5th of May.

The award winners of the 5th Thessaloniki Animation Festival will be announced during our Closing Ceremony on the 20th of October 2019. TAF awards :

There is no submission fee for the filmmakers.

TAF, Thessaloniki Animation Festival is an international Animation Festival in Greece which promotes the art of animation through its annual gathering in October. Founded in 2015 and based in the heart of Thessaloniki, TAF aims to encourage and promote all aspects of creativity by hosting local as well as international events and activities for kids and adults alike!

TAF is the only animation festival in town and every year it grows bigger. The creators of the festival are also artists and animators with their own films and full of love for the moving pictures. We like to bring fresh animation films, guests, workshops and Master Classes to Thessaloniki in a great venue and award them for their inspiration and technique!

TAF is established and directed by AddArt a non profit organization "adding" art & culture everywhere. The Festival is free of entrance and the venue has easy access for people with limited mobility.

This year, for the first time in its history TAF hosts a special animation unit on the environment titled “AnimEARTH".

Special Collections:

  • The Ukrainian and Hungarian Panorama Animation screenings
  • The HUMAN RIGHTS ANIMATED tribute with the support of the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Foundation GR, where selected animated short films will raise or highlight human rights issues through the art of animation
  • Chloé Alliez & Violette Delvoye return from last year and will showcase the world premiere of their World in (stop) Motion series
