Laika released a featurette about the creation of the  Norman character in the horror, stop-motion comedy ParaNorman.

In the upcoming 3D ParaNorman,a small town comes under siege by zombies. Only a local boy Norman, able to speak with the dead, can stop this -but he'll have to face a whole arrary of the paranormal to survive and succeed.

Mark Shapiro, marketing manager for the production company Laika, explained in the 11th AniFest  that the frame-by-frame technique required 1.3 million "replacement" faces to depict all the facial expressions of the main actor.
