Animation and Public Engagement, 18/11/14, Bradford: Call for Papers

The study of animation as an academic discipline has flourished in recent years, with both practical and theoretical exploration of its histories, contexts and creative possibilities developing through undergraduate and post-graduate levels of education.

At the same time, we know that animation is part of the modern media world – consumed by all in a fast flow of moving image information and entertainment.

How, then are researchers developing platforms for public engagement that allow the depth and richness of Animation Studies to unfold.

This symposium will be of interest to researchers who create animation, enjoy theoretical discourse about animation or wish to use animation to disseminate research ideas.

Delegates whose papers are accepted for presentation at the symposium will be given a complimentary ticket to the ‘Claire Jennings ‘In Conversation’ Event’.

There will be an opportunity for presented papers to progress as extended essays, for possible inclusion in a special edition of the ‘Animation Practice, Process and Production’ Journal.

Cost of symposium: £25, with student discount: £15. Submissions for 20 minute papers are invited.

If you are interested, send a 300-word abstract and a short biography to Gill Bliss: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The deadline is 8 September 2014.

Further details will be posted on the website in due course.
