The Bigger Picture, Coda for the Cartoon D'Or

The Cartoon d'Or is a pan-European award for animation short films. It rewards each year the prize-winning films from partner festivals.

Amongst this short list, a jury selects 6 films that will be screened during the Cartoon Forum (in order to promote 6 filmmakers each year) and one film will receive the Cartoon d'Or.

The six nominees for the Cartoon d'Or 2015 are:

  • A Single Life by Job, Joris & Marieke, Netherlands
  • Autumn Leaves by Carlos De Carvalho & Aude Danset, France
  • Brothers in Arms by Cav Bøgelund, Denmark
  • Coda by Alan Holly, Ireland
  • I can't wait by Claire Sichez, France
  • The Bigger Picture by Daisy Jacobs, United Kingdom

Cartoon d'Or was created in  1991 to give a boost to European elevision animation industry with short film animation artists, and be able to compete with Japan and US television programming, as well as to give an award space for short animation film, neglected at major European festivals and awards (Cannes Film Festival, Berlin, Venice, the European Felix etc.)

The 2015 jury was composed of producer Philippe Delarue (Futurikon, France), director Jan Bultheel (Tondo Films, Belgium) and producer Paul Young (Cartoon Saloon, Ireland).

They have watched 31 films which had won an award at one of CARTOON's partner festivals and selected the 6 nominees

The Award Ceremony will take place on Thursday 17 September 2015 in Toulouse and will be sponsored by Région Midi-Pyrénées.
