Event Description:

ANIMARKT STOP MOTION FORUM is a unique meeting venue of the field’s top artists, craftsmen, producers, distributors, broadcasters, and investors. Its diversified program offers a unique combination of workshop and vocation-oriented elements on the one hand with networking and business-to-business meetings on the other, while the pitching of short puppet animations is a unique opportunity for artists.

Apart from the Pitching Competition, the main programme will comprise workshops, masterclasses and panel discussions for students and young specialists (the Masters section), this year revolving around topics related to the making of a stop motion puppet as well as relations between animation makers and producers. The third part of the programme – Business, concentrates on establishing contacts in the industry and recruitment sessions for international animation studios or stop motion projects. This year it will be extended to include a new meeting formula (Match and Meet). Another novelty for the event participants will be a special application My ANIMARKT App which enables to directly arrange networking meetings. The 2021 event The event receivedd financing from the International Visegrad Fund and is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

2021 Call for Entries

The ANIMARKT Pitching section is dedicated to short stop-motion animations from around the world at the development stage. The awards include vouchers for production services in Poland or animation equipment, 2000 euro in cash to spend for the production in one of the Visegrád group countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) or Mifa Annecy 2022 accreditation.

Call for applications is open for projects from all over the world, but additional points are given to applications from following countries: Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Republic of Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Among the experts who will conduct the training sessions we can name a recognized journalist Nancy Denney-Phelps, member of the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA) and juror at many animation film festivals with links to AWN.com, or Marcin Zalewski, an experienced puppet maker who created puppets for films such as "Peter and the Wolf" and "Isle of Dogs". There will be also a possibility to take part in public speaking exercises with a composer and musician Nik Phelps or discuss scripts with Anna Bielak, a screenwriter and script consultant well known in the Polish animation community.

It has been proven many times that an award at ANIMARKT Pitching translates directly into the future of the artist and his or her project – Agnieszka Kowalewska-Skowron, MOMAKIN,

Finalists qualified for pitching before the presentation can take advantage of consultations regarding script work, production, project presentation, public speaking, and building the puppet.

The submitted project must meet the following conditions:
a) film duration: up to 30 minutes;
b) 80% of the film is a stop motion animation;
c) the film must be at the development stage with at least the first draft of the script.

Animarkt Pitching 2021 awards:

  • 2000 euro in cash to spend for the production in one of the Visegrád group countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia)
  • voucher worth PLN 60 000 (approx. 13 500 EUR) for using the studio and film production facilities – distinction funded by the Audiovisual Technology Center (CeTA) in Wrocław
  • Dragonframe software
  • expert consultation with Marcin Zalewski – regarding the construction of a puppet
  • industry accreditation for Mifa 2022 in Annecy

The event is organized by MOMAKIN, which combines the world of animation filmmaking with international production, distribution and promotion. It specializes in stop motion and supports animation projects at every stage of their development: from planning and financing through production to distribution.
