AniMate Australia Animation Film Festival 2023

AniMate is an International Animation Film Festival and a growing community of animation lovers, students, professionals and film makers. Its 3rd edition will take place on 13 March 2023.

2023 Call for Entries

Eligibility criteria:

• To be considered, at least 50% of your film's total length must be animated;
• The film considers Short Films those with a maximum duration of 40 minutes in total, credits included;
• Films longer than 40 minutes are considered Feature Films.
• The festival accepts films completed between 2020 and 2022. The category "Australian Animated films - made in 2019 or earlier" is the only exception.
• Any genre, short and feature Animation films are welcome. The festival particularly values content that is challenging and bold, new and original, representing Indigenous voices and diversity, including experimental.

• Short Animation - Student (made by students as part of their course)

• Short Animation - Australian Students (made by students in Australia as part of their course)
• Films and Documentaries with Animation as a theme (animated and non-animated entries accepted for this category, any duration)
• Feature Animation - General
• Feature Animation - Anime
• Feature Animation - Children (intended for an audience of children)
• Feature Animation - Family
• Australian Animated films - made in 2019 or earlier (No entry fees)

Semi-Finalist, Finalist, Official Selection and Award Winners will receive a Laurel. At the screening events, the attending audience will vote for the winners of the Audience Awards.

• Fees: There is a promotional fee (early bird) of AU$ 4 for all categories valid until the end of January 2022. After that date, the only category with no fee remains "Australian Animated films - made in 2019 or earlier". For all other categories, the fee is 15$ for the regular deadline, 20 $ for the late deadline and 25 $ for the special extended deadline
• Deadlines: 31 January 2022 (early bird), 31 March 2022 (regular), 31 May 2022 (late), 31 December 2022 (special extended)
