Animation Production Days (APD) is the most important co-production and financing market for animation in Germany. It brings together co-production, financing and distribution partners for animation projects in efficient one-to-one discussions and, with the APD Conference, offers focused debates and lectures on current challenges in the industry.
2022 Call for Projects
Projects for the 16th Animation Production Days (APD) can be submitted. The most important co-production and financing platform in the German-speaking region for international animation projects will be taking place from 4 – 6 May 2022 in Stuttgart.
Animation Production Days (APD) is a curated business platform for the German and international animation industry. In exclusive pre-planned one-to-one meetings producers present their fresh ideas for animated feature films, TV series, games or transmedia projects to broadcasters, streamers, investors, distributors and potential co-production partners. Trends and challenges of the industry will be discussed at the APD Conference.
A jury selects approx. 45 – 50 projects from all project submissions to participate in the APDs. Feature film, series, games, cross and transmedia projects in the concept or development stage can be submitted. Hybrid formats, a mixture of animated and live-action film, are also permitted
Criteria for selection are creativity, innovation, potential for brand development, market potential, suitability and openness for co-production. Projects that convincingly integrate topics such as sustainability and diversity receive special consideration. The project selection will take place no later than 7 March 2022.
APD is a joint venture of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (3 – 8 May 2022) and the FMX – Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Immersive Media (on site, 3 – 5 May 2022, online, 6 May 2022).
APD Talent Programme
For the Talent Programme, up-and-coming European producers and young creatives in the field of animation can apply with a project for which they are seeking co-production and/or financing partners. Applications for the Talent Programme are made via the online form on the APD website. A maximum of two people per project can apply to participate free of charge. A maximum of eight projects will be selected.
Meant for: European graduates from universities and film schools with a focus on animation, young professionals and company founders (up to the age of 35).
