Finland's oldest purely animation-based festival seeks to bring animated short films and animation art into the public eye and to introduce a host of diverse, thematically versatile films from all over the world. Animatricks International Animation Festival serves both as a venue for presenting films and as a meeting place for filmmakers and animation enthusiasts. Our repertoire features retrospectives by Finnish filmmakers, theme screenings, feature films, children's films, workshops as well as competitions. Animatricks Film Festival is arranged by Finland's umbrella organisation for animators, Finnish Animation Guild.

The 2022 festival will feature theme screenings, feature films, children's films, workshops as well as competitions. The schedule will be refined in the spring and ticket sales will start in April.
2022 Call for Entries
The 22nd edition of Animatricks International Animation Festival will be held from 19 to 22.5.2022 in Helsinki, Finland. Festival’s submissions are open to films applying all animation techniques, and there is no entry fee.
2021 Festival Coverage
Animatricks festival will be held as online festival on Eventive platform 20 - 23.5.2021.
The festival received a total of 735 films. This year's programme includes the Oscar nominee French director Adrien Merigeuan’s Genius Loci, South Korean Jeong Daheen’s award-winning Movements, Polish director Tomek Ducki’s (Animatricks winner 2014) latest animation Plantarium and the Armenian David Babyan’s Dream of Kafka.
In honor of the International Women's Day, Animatricks presented its new look, courtesy of the talented Jasmi Ritola. The new mascot represents this year's themes: animations made by women, freedom of speech, social criticism and satire.
Masterclasses & Webinars
The festival program is being assembled . In addition to this year's competitions and screenings, we will hold a four-day series of Masterclasses and webinars. The content of these will be in line with this year's themes; women in animation and freedom of speech. For starters, Animatricks -masterclass series will feature the animation journalist Nancy Denney-Phelps and the award-winner Finnish director Katariina Lillqvist. Animatricks is honored to have these two experienced women share their retrospectives and knowledge regarding women’s history in animation production. Masterclasses will be an online-only event.
