Best music award for Le Tableau (The Painting) at Stuttgart

Le Tableau ("The Painting") is  an animated feature by the veteran French master Jean-François Laguionie.

A kingdom is divided into the three castes: the fully painted Alldunns who reside in a majestic palace; the Halfies who the Painter has left incomplete; and the untouchable Sketchies, frail charcoal outlines who are banished to the cursed forest.

The film has just received the SACEM Award for "best original music" in the Stuttgart International Festival (Festival International du Film Francophone de Tübingen-Stuttgart).

The award was given to the soundtrack composer, Pascal Le Pennec. According to the festival jury, "the charm, the poetry and the profundity of the film is inflated by the tones that Pascal Le Pennec has chosen for the story."

The Painting has been bought by GKids and will be screened in LA (14-18 November), as part of the Oscar-qualifying theater run for the upcoming Academy Awards.

A wider US release is scheduled in 2013.
