2020 Call for Entries
Projects for the 14th Animation Production Days (APD) can now be submitted. The most important co-production and financing platform for international animation projects in German-speaking territories is taking place from 6–8 May 2020 in Stuttgart as part of the 27th Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (5–10 May 2020) and the 25th edition of FMX – Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Immersive Media (5–8 May 2020).
APD is a curated business platform for the European and international animation industry which hosts around 170 participants each year. Animation producers from more than 20 countries introduce their film, TV series, mobile content, games, cross-media and transmedia projects in pre-scheduled, one-to-one meetings; hybrid formats mixing animation with live-action film can also take part. Each year, around 50 projects are selected from an ever-increasing number of submissions to be presented at APD. Projects that are in an early stage of development particularly profit from the detailed feedback and tips given by the numerous representatives from broadcasters, SVoD platforms, world sales agents, distributors, funding institutions and other investors who come to APD on the hunt for innovative and promising projects. Alongside the one-to-one meetings, the APD programme also features a conference and a wealth of networking events.
Producer Programme (for producers wishing to present a project)
Producers wishing to present an animation project at APD have until 20 February 2020 to submit their project and register for the Producer Programme. Only one project per company can be submitted. A maximum of two people per company can be registered. The registration only becomes effective if the submitted project is selected for participation in APD 2020. It is only at this point that the participation fee for the registered person(s) becomes due.
Co-producers of projects that have been submitted for participation in APD can also register for the Producer Programme. The same rule applies: the registration only becomes effective if the submitted project is selected for participation in APD 2020. It is only at this point that the participation fee for the registered person(s) becomes due.
First company representative: 650.00 EUR (incl. 7% VAT) per person
Early bird rate (until 30 January 2020): 550.00 EUR (incl. 7% VAT)
Second company representative: 550.00 EUR (incl. 7% VAT) per person
Co-Producer Programme (for producers and studios without their own project)
Producers, studios, VFX and service producers looking for projects in which they can get involved can register for the Co-Producers Programme. A maximum of two people per company can register. The number of participants is limited.
For a limited number of producers not presenting their own project at APD, we can offer participation in the Producer Programme (i.e. the full APD programme including the Financing Market). To qualify for this, it is necessary to have a proven track record in international co-production. Participation in the Producer Programme without a project only makes sense for producers explicitly seeking projects in which they can become involved and who would like to meet as many other producers as possible. When we are planning the meetings with representatives from broadcasters, SVoD platforms, distributors and world sales agents, producers presenting their own project at APD will receive preference.
Participation fee: 350.00 EUR (incl. 7% VAT) per person
Early bird rate (until 30 January 2019): 300.00 EUR (incl. 7% VAT) per person
APD Talent Programme
For the Talent Programme, up-and-coming European producers and young creatives in the field of animation can apply with a project for which they are seeking co-production and/or financing partners. Applications for the Talent Programme are made via the online form on the APD website. A maximum of two people per project can apply to participate. A total of 14 places will be awarded. Applications can be made by European graduates from universities and film schools with a focus on animation, young professionals and company founders (up to the age of 35).
Participants receive a free accreditation to the APD Producer Programme, hotel accommodation (up to three nights) and a contribution towards travel costs.
