The BAFTA nominated 3 animated films in the respective categories of feature animation and British Short Animation Films respectively.

Only 3 feature animated films were nominated for a 2014 BAFTA Award for Best Animated Feature, a longheld practice from the British AcademyDisney's Frozen, Pixar's Monsters University and another sequel, Despicable Me 2 won the coveted positions.

Dreamworks (The Croods, Turbo) was left out from the competition No stop-motion feature this year (unlike last year's Frankenweenie).

Miyazaki's The Wind Rises was not entered for consideration at this year's BAFTA Awards.

 The nominees:

  •  DESPICABLE ME 2 Chris Renaud, Pierre Coffin
  • FROZEN Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee
  • MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, Dan Scanlon

Pixar's Brave was the 2013 recipient of the BAFTA Award .

In the British Short Animation category, 3 films were also selected:

  • EVERYTHING I CAN SEE FROM HERE Bjorn-Erik Aschim, Friederike Nicolaus, Sam Taylor
  • I AM TOM MOODY Ainslie Henderson
  • SLEEPING WITH THE FISHES James Walker, Sarah Woolner, Yousif Al-Khalifa

Everything I Can See From Here is directed by  Sam Taylor  and Bjorn-Erik Aschim (and produced by Friederike Nicolaus).

It tells the story of a game of football, which  turns deadly as an uninvited player joins in.

The  Annecy-awarded I Am Tom Moody by Ainslie Henderson is a surreal, stop-motion trip through the subconscious of a stifled musician as he struggles to sing.

Ainslie Henderson has won (along with Will Anderson) the BAFTA for short animated film in 2013 with The Making of Longbird.

Sleeping With The Fishes, a NFTS graduation film directed by Yousif Al-Khalifa (prod. by James Walker, script by Sarah Woolner), tells the story of Sonja, who lives a lonely life as a fishmonger, more at ease with her fish than her customers. Some day a delivery man turns up who looks like a rainbow trout.

The EE British Academy Film Awards (the official name of BAFTA Awards)  will take place on Sunday, 16 February 2014 at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden.

The ceremony will be hosted by the British actor Stephen Fry.
