The Hungarian film by Nadja Andrasev won the Third Prize at the Cinéfondation competition.

Created in 1998 and devoted to the search for new talent, the Cinéfondation Cannes selects fifteen to twenty short and medium-length films each year from film schools all over the world to compete to the annual fest.

In 2016, The Cinéfondation Selection consisted of 18 student films (4 animation shorts)  chosen out of 2 350 entries coming from 548 film schools around the world.

The jury (headed by Naomi Kawase and including Marie-Josée Croze, Jean-Marie Larrieu, Radu Muntean and Santiago Loza) gave the third prize to  The Noise of Licking (A NYALINTÁS NESZE),  directed by Nadja Andrasev at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Hungary.

In the 9-minute The Noise of Licking, a woman is being watched every day by the neighbor’s cat, as she takes care of her exotic plants. Their perverted ritual comes to an end when the cat disappears.

Next spring a peculiar stranger pays her a visit.

The film was Andrasev's graduation film at the animation department of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME Anim) with the support of the Hungarian National Film Fund (Producer: József Fülöp). According to the director, the film was inspired by a short story written by Ádám Bodor, talking about the absurd situation of an unexpected visitor silently watching a woman in her own living room as she is going about her day.

Coping with loneliness, desire, and self-destructing fetishes are some of the film themes.

Nadja Andrasev currently works on the development of her next film, while working as the production manager of animation films.
