For Animation Filmmakers:
For Animation and Film Festivals & Events
Con A de Animación (CAA) is an academic peer-reviewed journal focused on the study of the theoretical, technical, artistic and human aspects of the production of animated images. CAA is indexed by Scopus, ESCI (Thomson & Reuters), Latindex and Dialnet, among other data bases. Since 2020, CAA is published twice a year, in March and September, and it is entirely open-access:
CAA includes original and unpublished academic papers (extension between 3,500 and 5,000 words, out of Bibliography and Notes) that offer relevant contributions to the fields of Animation theory and practice. Essays describing teaching experiences can be also accepted, if they analyze a detailed study and proven results. The current Call for Papers can be checked here:
The suggested subjects for 2021 issues are two opposed themes: IMAGINED WORLDS, and ANIMATION AND REALITY. However, as usual, essays may be submitted without thematic restriction or focus, as long as they are related to animation areas as, for instance:
- Theoretical, aesthetic or analytical reflections.
- Chronicles and historicist approaches.
- Analysis from the practice of the medium.
- Teaching approaches.
- Interdisciplinary approaches (literature, cinema, arts, comics, video games, etc.).
CAA is published in Spanish. However, we accept submissions in English — although subject to translation by the author after acceptance. The essays will first undergo a review by the Editorial Committee, and then the evaluation by blind peers, whose report will determine acceptance for publication. It is important to write the papers according to the rules established in our style manual.
