2020 Call For Entries:

The 5th annual GLAS Animation Festival takes place March 19-22, 2020 in the historic city of Berkeley, California.

GLAS exhibits films from local and international artists and filmmakers across the animation spectrum, creating a community and space for industry veterans, historians, animation enthusiasts, and emerging talent from diverse backgrounds to come together, share, learn, and appreciate the animated art form in a critical context. We host retrospectives, special-curated programs, workshops, panel discussions, performances, and installations. We  GLAS started as a way to showcase the most exciting animation being made around the world and expand the scope of how animation is understood as an artistic medium in the United States.

The festival welcomes narrative, non-narrative, undergraduate, graduate, commissioned, and feature films

GENERAL CONDITIONS
• GLAS Animation Festival welcomes all animation techniques.
• Films must be completed after January 1st 2018
• Short films submitted must not exceed 40 minutes
• Feature length films must be over 40 minutes
• Short films that are online are eligible for selection

 A Kickstarter Campaign for the 5th edition of the GLAS Animation Festival is already on, with the aim to raise $8500 for the campaign to be successfully funded.

Glas Animation Festival i ntroduces new ideas and expands the scope of animation by bringing new voices, new talents, new themes, and a new generation of independent filmmakers and curators to the United States. It exhibits films from local and international artists and filmmakers across the animation spectrum, creating a community and space for industry veterans, historians, animation enthusiasts, and emerging talent from diverse backgrounds to come together, share, learn, and appreciate the animated art form in a critical context

Manshen Lo is a visual artist living in London. Her approach to drawing has roots in East Asia, whilst taking influence from comic art, cinematography and the ligne-claire style. Combining realistic line work with minimalistic compositions, she investigates the subtle tension between humans and urban space in contemporary life.

Ori Toor is a Tel-Aviv based illustrator, animator and avid doodler who deals mostly with experimental 2D animation and obsessively drawing heaps of noodly landscapes and shapes. Vincent and Tom are at the head of Studio Skillbard, a friendly team of composers and sound designers based in London, exxperienced in film, television, games, sound art, pop music, sonic branding and all-out having a good time with sound & music.
