For Animation Filmmakers:
For Animation and Film Festivals & Events
From the 4th edition, the festival is articulated in a twofold section: the official competition and the extended cinema.
MalatestaShort is an international short film festival, based in Cesena, 8 – 12 May 2020. The mission of the festival is to reflect on the forms of short films. The festival explores and evaluates both traditional and non-standard styles and genres of audiovisual experiences, such as video art, social videos and experimental film-making.
MalatestaShort Film Festival offers the opportunity to inspect and analyze the social meaning and role of movie-making and viewing, also re-imagining the location of cinema venues.
The official competition shows the best of international short production in four categories: Fiction, Animation, Documentary and Experimental. Short films, which may last from 1 up to 30 minutes and must have been produced after 1st January 2017, will be admitted to the competition without any restriction of content, theme, style or form.
"Extended Cinema" is the selection of short movies, which will take into account short films according to their themes (society, environment, psychology, architecture, ecc.), their specific language or technique (found footage, art films, ecc.) and their production (film academy, smartphone films, ecc.). The specific address will be established by the staff during the selection stage.
