Event Description

Interfilm is an Oscar-qualifying festival: Since 2018, the winners of Best Film and Best Animation Award in the International Competition will be eligible for consideration in the Live Action Short Film and Animated Short category of the Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.

2022 Call for Entries

The 38th Interfilm - International Short Film Festival Berlin will take place from 15 to 20 November 2022.

Entries will be considered for:
- International Competition
- Documentary Competition
- German Competition
- Eject 'The Long Night of Weird Shorts' Audience Competition
- Green Film Award - Environmental Films
- Focus On: Fortress Europe
- KUKI 15th Young Short Film Festival Berlin
- and for all other non-competitive festival categories & special programs (Berlin, Arab, Experimental, Bike, Dance, Queer, Horror, Science Fiction, Mockumentaries, Music Videos, VR, 3D, Full Dome)


  • Films may not be longer than 20 minutes, and not older than two years (January 2018). However the interfilm Festival reserves the right to include films exceeding 20 minutes duration.
  • Submitted films will be considered for all festival categories, including those at the partner festival, KUKI 15 - Young Short Film Festival Berlin.

For each festival submission interfilm charges a fee of 8 EUR
