Animateka, 2-8 December 2013, Ljubljana: Opening Premiere and Selection Results

 The 10^th edition of Animateka will take place from 2-8 December 2013 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

37 short films are included in the international competition programme (which celebrates films from Central and Eastern Europe). The stop-motion Films by Špela Čadež and Simone Massi, Animo resistente, and Pandy / Pandas, as well as Matúš Vizár's Pandy/Pandas, are among the selections.

39 student films from all over Europe compete in the official student competition programme. The Elephant International Children's Competition Programme will present 33 films, while the Eastern and Central European Panorama includes 34 films. The Australian animator Denis Tupicoff (Chainsaw, 2007), the artistic director of Ottawa Int'l Animation Festival Chris Robinson, the multi-awarded animator Theodore Ushev, the manager of the Croatian Bonobo Studio Vanja Andrijević, and the BAFTA-winning UK animator Jonathan Hodgson comprise the 2013 Animateka jury.

The opening premiere for the Animateka festival will be Patrice Leconte's dark comedy The Suicide Shop.

The animated feature A Liar's Autobiography (based on Monty Python's Graham Chapman's fake autobiography) is also part of the non-competitive programme of Animateka Festival.

 Michaela Mertová and Bára Příkaská present a two-tier programme on Czech animation (before and after 1989). A Cartoon D'Or special programme is also scheduled, as well as contributions from Anibar festival, partner festival Primanima, and Middlesex University Animation School.
