FLIPT! Austrian Flipbook Festival @ 15 StopTrik International Film Festival.  This year FLIPT! The Austrian Flipbook Festival will be hosted on the 15th. StopTrik International Film Festival 2025 in Maribor

In this special edition, we invite the international animation-/film-/artists- and flipbook community to submit their flipbooks! This call is open to anyone who wants to create (or has already created) one or more flipbooks and who wishes to present them within the framework of an exhibition in Maribor at OBRAT - Space for Art and Participation - from the end of September to the end of October 2025. Any work that can be flipped by thumb is welcome. Any genre, any technique, any experiment is allowed. We welcome flipbooks from all around the world!

The opening of the exhibition and the exhibition itself - both happening at OBRAT - Space for art and participation, Maribor - will be in the context of the 15th StopTrik International Film Festival Maribor (24. - 28. 9. 2025). Besides this current call for flipbooks, FLIPT! Austrian Flipbook Festival will contribute a showcase from their Austrian archive to this exhibition as well.

Call for International Submissions: (Archive)

CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION

1. General: Each work must be able to be flipped by thumb. Any genre, any technique, any experiment is allowed.

2. Conditions for Submission: Flip books arrive no later than September 20th, 2025, along with an application form. Use 1 application form for each FlipBook. Please fill out the form completely.

3. Return Postage: Mail charges are in the responsibility of the sender/artist. If the sender/artist wants his flip book sent back after the festival, a return envelope large enough for the FlipBook must be included in the submission. The return envelope must have sufficient return postage already attached to it, as well as a return address written on it. If there is no return envelope/return postage, the FlipBook remains in the FLIPT! Archive.

4. Miscellaneous: Throughout the festival, submitted work may become soiled, damaged, and/or stolen. The organizers (Flipt & StopTrik IFF) do not take responsibility for damages or theft incurred. Additionally, FlipBooks will be perforated to provide space for a wire to act as an anti-theft device. If an artist does not want to risk damage to the FlipBook, the organizers suggest that the artist submit a copy of the original work.

5. Presentation: At the Opening Event in OBRAT - space for art and participation, we will try to present all submitted works. Should there be additional exhibitions, we are also keen to show all the FlipBooks that are submitted. If we receive too many submissions for the exhibition spaces' capacities, the organizers will then select a subset of works. Furthermore, the sender/artist agrees to the fact that the organizers create filmed versions of the flip book, which can be accessed in our digital archive (YouTube Channel, Vimeo Channel), and that may be used for promoting the festivals Flipt and StopTrik IFF.

6. The future: All flipbooks submitted to the Call for International Submissions: FLIPT! Austrian Flipbook Festival @ 15. StopTrik International Film Festival will also be showcased at the forthcoming Austrian Flipbook Festival, scheduled for 2026.
