Festival Internacional Stop Motion Mx 2026
Festival Description: Stop Motion MX Film Festival is an international project that promotes and disseminates stop motion animation since 2013 in Mexico City. Year-round, SMMX encourages this unique combination of technology and craftwork with multidisciplinary workshops, conferences, and events, involving participants worldwide. The Festival gathers professionals and independent creators alike, as well as enthusiasts and fans of all ages, for a truly unique cinematic experience.
2026 Call for Entries
- All audiovisual works that feature stop-motion animation in their entirety are eligible to compete. Additionally, mixed-media works that include at least 50% traditional frame-by-frame animation may also participate.
- Eligible productions must have been completed between January 2026 and July 2026.
COMPETITION CATEGORIES:
MEXICAN – Only productions from Mexico.
INTERNATIONAL – Productions from any country except Mexico.
LATIN AMERICAN – Only productions from Latin America.
UNIVERSITY – Only productions created by students.
EXPERIMENTAL – Open audiovisual expression using mixed media or alternative materials.
MUSIC VIDEO – Visual representation of a musical piece.
COMMERCIAL SPOT – Promotion of products or services.
CHILDREN'S – Productions specifically directed at young audiences.
FIRST FRAMES – Short films created by children and teenagers, focused on their first audiovisual explorations.
