Festival Description

The main trait distinguishing Nikozi Animation Festival from other international festivals is that it is not a traditional competition that determines the winners in various nominations – Festival presents old and newly created masterpieces side by side. Festival participants and attendants get the opportunity to find out about new trends and developments in animation art around the world, and meet with famous film directors and other representatives of cinematography. For the youth interested in animation arts, festival offers seminars and master classes. The students of Nikozi Art School present their work and performances in singing, dancing, theater and animation arts to the guest of the Festival. The Festival is accompanied with a cultural program that offers performances in classical and folk music and sightseeing trips.

 2023 Call for Entries

The concept of competition doesn’t exist at the festival “Nikozi” and it’s not important how long ago the film was produced. We desire to meet the artists who regard the depth of creative thinking in the highest value. The festival will encompass much more than the screening of the films. Each filmmaker will be able to present their work and create an atmosphere that reflects the theme and tone of their film. In addition, we will have conversations about the art of animation and cinema and some of those conversations might even be publicized.

We are interested in viewing films created in various countries and with pleasure, we are inviting to our festival talented artists both experienced and emerging. We welcome works with unique creative perspectives.

The festival is initiated by Nikozi Art School and is held in the vicinity of a monastery. While we encourage creative freedom, we consider the environment we are in during the film selection process. The filmmakers whose works have been selected, will be invited to the festival.
