The festival is always held in Vienna in March around International Women´s Day. TRICKY WOMEN/TRICKY REALITIES is worldwide the only big recurring festival of animated films by female*/trans/inter creators

Tricky Women Tricky Realities is accepting entries for the 2026 festival edition, taking place in Vienna from the 11th to the 15th of March, 2026. Tricky Women Tricky Realities focuses on animated works made by women and/or genderqueer artists and therefore fills a unique position within the international festival landscape.

Our parameters are that at least 50% of the artwork is animated and at least 50% of the directresses are female and/or genderqueer artists.
