Animinimist Festival 2026

FESTIVAL DESCRIPTION

Animinimist Festival is an international animation festival dedicated to young audiences, showcasing a carefully curated selection of animated shorts created for children and youth. This inclusive and accessible festival presents age-tailored programmes for a wide range of viewers — from preschoolers to high school students. It is designed as an introduction to the school year, with a focus on school group visits, educational activities, and active participation of young audiences. In addition to screenings of author-driven animation, the programme includes workshops, an exhibition, and opportunities for young viewers to take part in jury work. Alongside the main events in Tallinn and Tartu, the festival aims to make the film and education programme accessible to schools across Estonia. The children’s and youth animation festival ANIMINIMIST is a sister of festival Animist Tallinn.

2026 Call For Entries

• Eligible films must have been completed between 2020 and 2025.
• All submitted films must be suitable for a young audience (ages 3–16)
• Films are eligible for the competition programme if they have not been broadcast on Estonian television programs and have not been released in Estonian cinemas
• Films selected for the educational programme – must not be widely known to Estonian audiences.
