Black Sea Animation Workshop 2024
Event Description:
Georgian Animators Association Saqanima and Film Studio Kvali, with the support of French Ministry of foreign affairs, Institut Français de Géorgie, Tbilisi City Hall, Georgian National Film Center and Annecy International Film Market (MIFA), are announcing call for the 10th Animation Film Project Development/Pitching workshop. Project BLACK SEA Animation Workshop is supported by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the French Institute as part of the strategy for the export of Cultural and Creative Industries internationally.

2024 Call for Projects
Black Sea Animation workshop in Tbilisi Georgia 26-30.11.2024 is open to projects from Black Sea region countries (Except Russia): Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Turkey and Georgia. A creator/animator/filmmaker can send in a project either as a personal/individual piece of work or through a structure set up within his/her country.
The Call for Projects is open to animated short film projects in development, presented by their authors,irrespective of :
- techniques used: traditional, 2D computer, 3D, etc.
- target audience
- genre: fiction, documentary, educational, experimental, etc.
- age and nationality of the author(s)
- Only one project per author(s) can be submitted.
- Eligible are authors who are the citizens of the above-mentioned countries and who are based in their country. Only exceptions for the authors from Ukraine.
- The project presented must not be part of a school syllabus or have been pre-purchased by a TV channel.
As a result of the competition, 10 short animated film projects (2 per country) will be selected by the international experts. 2 Mentors Corinne Destombes and Olivier Catherin from France will arrive in Tbilisi and from November 26th to 30th 2024, will conduct a 5-day workshop (working language English) for the authors of 10 selected projects. Workshop is free of charge.
As a result of the workshop, 5 best projects will be selected by MIFA experts to participate in the first Black Sea Partner Pitch to be hold in 2025 in Annecy. The travel expenses of the Georgian participant will be covered by the Georgian National Film Center and the Annecy Festival will provide him/her with accreditation. Another best project will receive one-month Fontevraud residency for the year 2025. And one more prize for the best project will be CEE Animation Forum 2025 free accreditation.
