51 Films Selected For StopTrik 2018

51 Films Selected For StopTrik 2018

The 8th StopTrik IFFestival (4-7.10.18, Maribor and 9-11.11.18, Lodz), selected overall 51 films; 36 in the two main competitions (International Competition and The Borderlands Competition) and 15 films in the Panorama section (selection by StopTrik IFF Programme Director, Michał Bobrowski).

You can find here films like the always fishy The Burden by Niki Lindroth von Bahr,  the Estonian church delight of Mary and the 7 Dwarfs by Riho Unt, the politically-tinted Untravel (Ana Nedeljković, Nikola Majdak  Jr.),  the French black comedy of Death, Dad and Son (Walgenwitz & Winschlus) - even music videos, like Joseph Wallace's piece Edith Piaf Said it Better than Me [our review].

51 selected films trigger off admiration, reflection, sadness, shock and laughter, but never indifference or boredom. The cinema is about thrills, shivers, hopes and emotions. Animation adds up to this a radiant joy of experiencing intimate visions materializing in clay, puppets, objects, threads or coffee grains, or any other movable substance. It’s smaller than reality, but bigger than life!  - Olga Bobrowska, Artistic director and Michał Bobrowski, Programme Director
