Soot, Coda, The Boy and the World Win at 2014 Cinanima fest

Its synopsis is not very informative, but its content delighted the jury of the 2014 Cinanima comprised of Afonso Cruz (Portugal), Katariina Lillqvist (Finland), Rao Heidmets (Estonia), Olivier Vandersleyen (Belgium), and Bruno Collet (France).

The film Soot (Fuligem) by David Doutel and Vasco Sá, won both the Grand Prize of the Portuguese fest and the National Competition Award for a Portuguese film.

The 2D Soot tells the story of  a soot that rests on the walls of our head. We can't see it. It belongs there already.

Jury's special award went to the Oscar-shortlisted Irish film Coda by Alan Holly that details a intricate after-death experience. Natalya Chernysheva, a student of the French school La Poudrière won the award for best graduation film with her Two Friends (Deux amis) short.

Honorable mention was given to the inventive short Wind (Robert Löbel). The Annecy-awarded feature The Boy and the World by Alê Abreu was the recipient of the Best Feature Award, as well as the Audience Award of the festival.
