Wind by Robert Loebel

WIND is an animated short about the daily life of people living in a windy area who seem helplessly exposed to the weather. However, the inhabitants have learned to deal with their difficult living conditions. The wind creates a natural system for living.

The film never fails to achieve a sense of being embedded within nature -even at its most horrific conditions. Humor and collaboration prevail in the constructivist characters, who are never devoid of sentiments though (watch the small kid and the dog).

All this comes to end via a spontaneous hole in the ground. Wind excellently represents normality as a condition you construct, not a neutrality you feel obliged to report and change whatever the outcome.

Wind is a graduation project by Robert Loebel  at the HAW Hamburg Department Design. It has won awards at Stuttgart Int'l Animation Festival (ITfS), PISAF (Korea) festival, and EXPOTOONS festival, and has participated in a number of international animation festivals.
