Emma de Swaef, Marc James Roels, Niki Lindroth von Bahr, Paloma Baeza in The House Netflix comedy
4 stop-motion animation directors will be involved in the new Netflix dark comedy. Produced by Nexus Studios (London), Netflix orders a dark animated stop-motion The House. The project centers on a house and the surreal tales of three generations of families who made it their home.
The authors of This Magnificent Cake! Emma de Swaef, Marc James Roels, The Burden's Niki Lindroth von Bahr and Paloma Baeza (Poles Apart) will each direct one chapter of the Netflix comedy.
This Magnificent Cake! by Emma de Swae and Marc James Roels was an official selection at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, and won the top prize at Animafest Zagreb festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, and received an Annie nomination.
Swedish director and animator Niki Lindroth von Bahr won the Annecy Cristal in Annecy for her 2017 short film The Burden; Paloma Baeza is the creator of Poles Apart, the BAFTA-awarded stop-motion film.
The House is a collection of cinematic stories that are intelligent, witty, inquisitive, warm and yet packed with offbeat humour. For this project, Nexus are bringing together, for the very first time, three of the most unique and multi-awarded voices in independent stop motion animation today in Niki, Marc & Emma and Paloma. This production is an organic collaboration between brilliant and like-minded storytellers.
