4 feature films in Cinanima 2011
The Selection Jury for Feature Films, constituted by André Marques (Portugal), Germano Campos (Portugal) and Katelijn Smissaert (Belgium) selected 4 of the 10 films in pre-selection, for competition in November.
One of the films is THE FLYING MACHINE, by Martin Clapp and Geoff Lindsey (Poland) is a live action/ animation family feature film about a stressed out business-woman, georgie, who takes her two children to see the animation film “Magic Piano”, which is being performed live by the world famous pianist Lang Lang. A magical event occurs and Georgie’s kids get transported inside the animation world, and Georgie has to pursue them, with a little help from Maestro Lang Lang. Watch the trailer below:
THE UGLY DUCKLING, by Garri Bardin (Russia) tells the story of a misfit duckling is rejected and bullied everywhere he goes as he is not resembling the others. Outside, he sees a flock of migrating wild swans; he is excited but he cannot join them. Winter arrives. Soon, the ugly duckling will turn into a beautiful swan. Plasticine adaptation of “The Ugly Duckling” by H.C. Andersen, music of Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake”.
GEORGE, THE HEDGEHOG, by Wojtek Wawszczyk (Poland) is a satiric animated feature based on a cult Polish comic about an urban hedgehog, George, who gets in trouble with a mad cientist, two neo-nazi skinheads and a lunatic clone of himself.
TRIPURA: THE THREE CITIES OF MAYA, by Chetan Sharma (India) is an epic tale from the ancient pages of India’s mythic past! There is a constant struggle for control of the universe between the God-like Devas and their stepbrothers the Asuras symbolising light and dark forces.
These are the constestants for the Prize for Feature Films in International Competition in the 35th Edition of CINANIMA – International Animated Film Festival, which takes place from 7-13 November.
