'Bestia', 'Demons', 'Garbage Man' in the Cinanima Festival 2022 Winners
'Bestia' by Hugo Covarrubias won another award in an esteemed festival; this time it was the 46th edition of Cinanima Festival (Espinho, Portugal, 7-13 November 2022). The jurors for the international shorts competition (Alice Guimarães, Chris Robinson, Emma de Swaef, Tomm Moore, Waltraud Grausgruber) gave the big prize to the stop-motion Chilean film.
Portuguese Laura Gonçalves with her 'Garbage Man' grabbed the Animation Documentary Award, but also the best Portuguese film in the National Competition. Honorable mention went to the horse drama ' Garrano' by Vasco Sá and David Doutel.
In the feature film category (jurors: Birgitta Hosea, Paulo Patrício, Sam Ortí), the Portuguese stop-motion sensitive story of 'My Grandfather's Demons by Nuno Beato won the Grand Prize, with the runner-up (Honorable Mention) being 'No Dogs Or Italians Allowed' by Alain Ughetto.
The audience award was given to another Portuguese animation feature, the spectacular-looking 'Nayola' by Jose Miguel Ribeiro.
