Festival Description: Animayo is an inspirational event that was born in 2006, directed by the Spanish director and producer Damián Perea, who was one of the first ambassadors of Spain of the European Animation Émile Awards and a member of the European Academy of Cinematography (EAA). Animayo winners qualify for the Academy Awards (Best Short Animation Film), both in the international category and the Spanish-language competition.

2027 Animayo Festival Poster Design Competition

Animayo 2027 International Poster Competition: the winning poster becomes the official image of the festival’s 22nd edition

• Theme: The poster should take us into the world of ideas and creativity, focusing on inspiration, fantasy, and technology
• Any technique. Any artistic technique is accepted: drawing, photography, illustration, 3D, collage, or any other, as long as the work is original.
• Each entrant or group may submit up to five designs.
• The same poster in two formats: portrait 50 × 70 cm and landscape 100 × 50 cm 
• AI: Works whose imagery, illustration, backgrounds, textures or composition have been generated, wholly or partly, by generative artificial intelligence are not accepted. Technical editing
  tools that do not create new content —object selection, cut-out, color correction, upscaling, noise reduction and the like—, now built into professional design software, are accepted

The prize is 500 EUR gross, with a discretionary second prize of 250 EUR.

Finalists are announced on 5 February 2027 and the winner on 19 February 2027.

2027 Animayo Festival Call for Animation Entries

Eligibility criteria:

• Completed on or after 1 July 2025.
• Maximum duration of the work 30 minutes.
• May participate people older than 18 years and animation studios, of any nationality that complies with the requirements established in the Official Rules and the technical standards that are presented in their future exhibition.
• In works that include visual effects (VFX), these must not exceed 20% of the total content. Animation must represent at least 80% of the work submitted for competition.

Categories

The International Jury will award, on a mandatory basis, the category:

• "Grand Jury Prize" (winning work of the Festival and pre-selected for the Oscar® Awards).
• The Jury of the Spanish-language Animation Category - Animación con Ñ, (pre-selected for the Oscar® Awards), will decide on the awarding of the "Best Spanish-language Short Film - Animación con Ñ".
• Best Student Short Film
  
  Jury in the category of Cinemagraphs, Music Videos, and Advertising (Commissioners), shall declare winners in the following categories:
• Best Video Game Cinematics
• Best Music Video
• Best Advertising (Commissioner)

Additional award categories that may be granted by the International Jury — and which may be
modified, replaced, increased, or reduced — include

• Best Social Interest Short Film
• Best 2D Short Film
• Best 3D Short Film
• Best Visual Effects Short Film
• Best Comedy Short Film for All Audiences
• Best Adult-Only Comedy Short Film
• Special Jury Mentions

AWARDS

• The winner of the “Grand Jury Prize” category will receive a monetary award of €3,000. This amount is subject to applicable taxes and withholdings as established by law, unless exempted by the
  competent authority of the Tax Administration.
• Additionally, the Selection Committee reserves the right to grant Special Mentions of the Festival if deemed appropriate.
• Furthermore, Damián Perea, director and producer of the Animayo Festival, reserves the right to present an award titled “Director’s Award.”
• The Organizer also reserves the right to grant additional awards as Special Mentions.
