Festival Description:

FILMFEST DRESDEN was founded in 1989, before the imminent collapse of the GDR and reunification of Germany. The short film festival focuses on short film in all its facets, and has become one of the most important festivals of its kind throughout Germany. FILMFEST DRESDEN is also one of the best-endowed short film festivals in Europe with prizes and awards worth more than €67,000. It attracts more than 20,000 international and national visitors, including 550 professionals.

2027 Filmfest Dresden Call for Entries

Films must have been finished after 31 December 2024

Competition Categories:

International & National Competitions: Eligible films include short fiction or animated films (including hybrid forms like AnimaDoc). The maximum length is 30 minutes (including credits).
Central German Competition: Open to animation, short fiction, experimental, or documentary films with a connection to Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, or Thuringia. The maximum length is 40 minutes.
Special Programmes: Includes Kids and Youth programmes, Panorama, etc.. These accept animation, short fiction, experimental, or documentary films up to 30 minutes.
