Festival description:

ANIAFF aims to be the world’s leading animation film festival that contributes to the development and promotion of the animation culture and industry by globally disseminating a great number of animated works to the international market with a fundamental concept of “Creators First”. The festival’s functions are not just limited to introducing diverse films through screenings; creators and producers from across borders will gather in Nagoya for networking through various talks, conferences, and workshops. In addition to the film festival, we will establish a hub for the next generation of animation talent, offering creators opportunities to connect, collaborate, and grow.

The Aichi Nagoya International Animation Film Festival (ANIAFF) has announced the nine films selected for its International Feature Film Competition. The lineup was selected from 67 entries submitted from 33 countries and regions, up from 45 entries from 29 countries for the inaugural edition.

• The Orbit of Minor Satellites (United States / Japan)
• Son of A Bitch (Brazil)
• Zsazsa Zaturnnah (Philippines / France)

The nine selected films involve 12 countries in total, including those represented through co-productions, with Asian works accounting for more than half of the lineup. The submissions encompassed a wide range of visual expression and production methods, from hand-drawn and stop-motion animation to CG and works incorporating AI.

Aichi Nagoya International Animation Film Festival (ANIAFF) Call for Entries

Requirements:

• An animation with a length of 40 minutes or more, including end credits.
• Any method of production is acceptable.
• Completed during or after January 2025.
• All entries must have English subtitles at the time of submission. 

Awards:

• Grand Prix - 1,000,000 yen and a Gold Shachi trophy
• Director's Award - 500,000 yen and a Silver Shachi trophy
• Audience Award - 200,000 yen and a Red Shachi trophy
