Animasivo ShortFilm Festival

Festival description:

ANIMASIVO Festival was founded in 2008 as the first film festival space focused on the promotion of the animated films in Mexico. ANIMASIVO provides a space for both national and international experimental works. The Festival is dedicated to the exploration and exploitation of the most experimental and hybrid art of animation, its possibilities in space, and its combination with other media. Since 2010, ANIMASIVO NÓMADA has traveled across Mexico and other countries to showcase animated experimental works, and since its inception in 2010, has screened over 600 animated shorts, and has been invited to showcase at over 10 different countries.

2022 Call for Entries (Archive)

ANIMASIVO is a platform devoted specifically to independent animation, positioning itself as one of the main platforms focused on this animation in Latin America. The contest, which celebrates its 15th edition, continues to focus on presenting the ability of the animated image to subvert, reinvent and explore aesthetics, imaginaries, and narrative styles. The festival will take place from 24 to 26 November 2022.

Eligibility criteria:

• All animated pieces, in any technique, may participate as long as their author owns the rights to the work presented.
• All work submitted must have been produced from January 2020 to the deadline date. Submission of works previously presented in other festivals, exhibitions, and contests is allowed, with the exception of works already submitted in former editions of ANIMASIVO.
• Animators of any nationality may register. 

Awards & Prizes:

• Best International Short Film: Trip to Mexico (flights + 5-day stay on the dates of Animasivo 2023).
• Best Mexican Short Film: $20,000 MXN. 
• Best National Student Film*: $15,000 MXN ESCINE Award.
• Audience Award (just for Mexican short films): $10,000 MXN
