Lanterna Mágica International Animation Festival

Festival Description

Lanterna Mágica is an international animation festival that aims to promote and disseminate the Brazilian and global animation market. Held annually in the city of Goiânia, Goiás, the festival debuted on the international calendar in 2017. The program includes Competitive and Non-Competitive Screenings, Lanterna Educa, which includes educational training activities, including workshops and international project development labs, and Lanterna Film Market, the market area featuring business roundtables, co-production meetings, case studies, panels and masterclasses.

Lanterna Mágica is produced by CSNR Productions and Baloo Films.

2026 Call for Entries (Archive)

• Hybrid films are eligible to participate, provided that at least 70% of their length is animated.
• Eligible for submission are animated short films of up to 25 minutes, from all territories worldwide.
• Medium-length films, animated series episodes, and music videos will only be screened by special invitation of the festival.
• Films completed before July 1, 2024 will not be eligible. “Completion date” refers to the first public exhibition in a festival context.

• Brazilian Shorts (directors born or naturalized in Brazil)
• International Shorts (directors of non-Brazilian nationality)
• Ibero-American Features (feature films by directors from Ibero-American countries, born or naturalized)
• Student Shorts (for student directors; in this category, the submitter must also enter a second project in development to the IPÊ – University Project Incubator).
