Solar Walk, This Magnificent Cake! Get 2018 BIAF Awards
The 20th Bucheon International Animation Festival had its award ceremony 18 The jury for short films, Laurent Witz, Lorraine Lordan, and Špela Čadež gave the BIAF Grand Prix to Solar Walk by Réka Bucsi, a multi-awarded short [watch it here], and a strong contender (at least, from the European and Independent Animation side of things) for the upcoming Academy Award ceremony . The jury prize was reserved for Late Afternoon by Louise Bagnal, which also won the AniB's Choice Prize).
Martina Scarpelli's story of a health disorder Egg received the Special Distinction Prize, in aequo with My Grandpa is Hiding by Anne Huynh. Invaders by Daniel Prince won the Audience Prize for a Short Film.
In the feature film category, the jury of Katabuchi Sunao (President), Kim Keukeleire, and Ron Dyens chose This Magnificent Cake! by Marc James Roels and Emma De Swaef [read our review]; the film went home with the BIAF Grand Prize for a feature film. Denis Do's political-autobiographical Funan (Cristal D' Annecy) received the Jury Prize.
