France conquers both awards in the short and feature-length category at the 51st International Annecy Film Festival.

The beautifully executed idea of a world gradually transformed in Pixels by Jean Patrick won the hearts and the Crystal D' Annecy for best short film.

Italy joined the awards with the Big Bang Big Boom by Blu, whereas the Brothers Quay and their new film Maska settled for the Sacem Award for original music (written by Krzysztof Penderecki).

The feature-length film was another triumph for France and the director of Gainsbourg. Joann Sfar and Antoine Delesvaux  co-directed a story of a talking cat whose owner is a rabbi in 1920's Algeria. Rabbi's cat (in 3D) was based on Sfar's comics and won the first prize at Annecy.

PLATO  (Léonard Cohen, France) depicts the story of a man who needs to define his own space, without being enclosed in boxes. It won the award for best graduation film, and its technique involves no more than simple but powerful sketches and drawings.
