Jean-Luc Slock, Élise Labbé will join Schwizgebel in the Cyprus festival jury.

Renowned animation artist and director Georges Schwizgebel, author of L’homme sans ombre (2004), Romance (2011) and Chemin Faisant (2012) has a retrospective at the 17th Countryside Animafest Cyprus - Views of the World (17-21 July 2018, Paphos) and an exhibition of his drawings. He is the artist of the festival’s 2018 visual identity.

The aim of Countryside Animafest Cyprus is to cultivate the art of animation, by raising audience awareness and promoting cultural, financial and social development in the field of independent animation filmmaking. Its various activities throughout the year include the annual Countryside Animafest Cyprus, expert seminars and workshops, academic forums, special screenings, etc. In this way the festival initiates international collaborations and provides opportunities for artistic growth.

This year there will be a special tribute to a contemporary master of animation, renowned artist Georges Schwizgebel, who also created this year’s poster. The tribute consists of a retrospective selection of Schwizgebel’s films and an exhibition of drawings.

Schwizgebel will also serve in this year’s international jury committee along with Jean-Luc Slock, founder and director of Camera Etc and Élise Labbé, Head of Festivals and audience development at the National Film Board of Canada.

Animafest Cyprus is sponsored by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus.

The 17th edition of Countryside Animafest Cyprus - Views of the World will take place from 17 until 21 July 2018 in  Paphos (Salamiou village).
