I Lost My Body, The Swallows of Kabul Added to Annecy Lineup

Both films, now already selected to compete at Cannes Film Festival (see here and here) will be in competition at Annecy. The reason for the late announcement could be traced to the world premiere status Cannes Film Festival requires, which would not be served by an earlier Annecy selection announcement.

In Jérémy Clapin's I Lost My Body (prod: Xilam Animation), in Paris a young man’s cut-off hand escapes from a dissection lab with one crucial goal: to return to its body. As it scrambles through the perilous streets of Paris, it remembers its life with the young man it was once attached to, up until he met Gabrielle.

Produced by Les Armateurs, and  co-produced by French companies Mysteo and Hildegarde, as well as Swiss Close Up Films, and Luxembourg's Mélusine Productions, The Swallows of Kabul tells a story of summer 1998.

Kabul under Taliban rule. Zunaira and Mohsen are young and in love. Despite the daily violence and misery, they hope for a better future. One day, a foolish gesture causes life to take an irrevocable turn. Actress-director Zabou Breitman, who won a best first film César for her 2001 directorial debut Beautiful Memories co-directs along with Eléa Gobbé-Mévellec

I Lost My Body and The Swallows of Kabul will join the 8 previously selected animation features.

Annecy International Animation Film Festival runs 10-15 June 2019 in Annecy, France
