The 27th Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF2025) has announced the 11 members of its international jury, representing a wide range of genres across short film, feature film, graduation/TV & commissioned/ shorts, and music.

Feature Film Jury

BIAF Jury for feature films

Brenda CHAPMAN (Writer/Director, United States), Jury President (Chair) 

A pioneering filmmaker who began at Disney (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast) and served as story supervisor on The Lion King (Annie Award). At DreamWorks, she co-directed The Prince of Egypt, and at Pixar, she created, wrote, and directed 'Brave', winning an Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe. She later directed 'Come Away' (2020, Sundance).

AKIMOTO Kenichiro (Director, Japan) 

Started as an animator at Madhouse. Served as CG director (Children of the Sea), art director (Poupelle of Chimney Town), and unit director (Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko). Currently directing 'All You Need Is Kill', co-produced by Warner Bros. Japan and STUDIO4℃.

KIM Yonghwan (Director, South Korea) 

Director at STUDIO LICO (WEBTOON). Made his feature debut with Your Letter, lauded for its emotional storytelling. The film premiered at OIAF, opened BIAF2024, and won three awards including the Jury Prize and Music Prize.

Nina GANTZ (Director, Netherlands) 

'Edmond' won 38 awards including a BAFTA and Sundance. 'Wander to Wonder' was Oscar-nominated, premiered in Venice, and went on to win prizes at SXSW, BIFAs, Annie Awards, BAFTA, and BIAF. Gantz is known for her hybrid use of stop-motion, puppetry, and live action.

Anastasiia FALILEIEVA (Director, Ukraine) 

A Kyiv National University of Cinema and Television graduate specializing in stop-motion. Her animated documentary I Died in Irpin won the BIAF Grand Prize in Shorts and became an international festival success. One of Ukraine’s few stop-motion professionals, she focuses on themes of time and memory. 

KIM Hanna (Director, South Korea) 

CalArts alumna and former Disney/DreamWorks story artist. Her student short Raccoon and the Light won the Student Academy Award Gold Medal, and Peculiar and Strange screened at BIAF2023. She contributed to DreamWorks titles including The Bad Guys and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

IM Chaerin (Director, South Korea) 

Her shorts (Flora, Mate, Eyes and Horns, I Am a Horse) screened at Annecy, Zagreb, and Ottawa. A former Filmværksted Viborg and NEF Animation resident, she is developing her next film Haan with Miyu Production. 

JANG Yena (Voice Actor, South Korea) 

Active since 2015 with the Daewon Broadcasting Voice Actor’s Association. Roles include Suzume (Suzume, 2023), Baby Shark Ollie (Baby Shark series), and Laraping (Catch! Teenieping). She also works in games, audio dramas, and OSTs.

Geefwee BOEDOE (Director, United States) 

CalArts graduate with credits at Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, and Laika on films such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Incredibles, and Finding Nemo. His short Let’s Pollute (2011) was Academy Award-nominated. He currently teaches at California College of the Arts. 

Music Jury

KIM Tae-sung (Music Director, South Korea) 

Winner of the Cocomics Music Award at BIAF2024 for Your Letter. His credits include Zombie Daughter (2025), Dark Nuns (2025), and some of Korea’s highest-grossing hits (The Admiral: Roaring Currents, Extreme Job, The Outlaws 2, Exhuma). He has also scored acclaimed TV series including Sky Castle, Yumi’s Cells, Happiness, and My Liberation Diary. 

LEE Su-jin (Singer/Actor, South Korea) 

First gained attention on JTBC’s Mix Nine as visual center. Debuted in 2020 with girl group Weeekly, winning multiple rookie awards. Her hits include After School (180M+ YouTube views), Ven para, and Lights On.  The 27th Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF2025) runs October 24–28, 2025 in Bucheon, South Korea.
