e} A retrospective of Theodore Ushev at Clermont- Ferrand short film festival.

A retrospective in honour of animation filmmaker Theodore Ushev will be held at the prestigious International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, where Ushev will serve as a member of the international jury.

The program will be presented January 28 to February 4, 2012. It includes three films made by Arthur Lipsett and produced at the NFB: Very Nice, Very Nice (1961), 21-87 (1964) and A Trip Down Memory Lane (1965). This celebrated experimental filmmaker inspired Ushev to make his short film Les journaux de Lipsett (Lipsett Diaries) (2010), which went on to garner many awards at international festivals, including the one held at Clermont-Ferrand.

In addition to Les journaux de Lipsett, the retrospective will showcase several of Theodore Ushev's other works produced or co-produced at the NFB, including Tower Bawher (2005), L'homme qui attendait (The Man Who Waited) (2006), Drux Flux (2008) and Yannick Nézet-Séguin : sans entracte (Yannick Nézet-Séguin: No Intermission) (2010). His animated film Nightingales in December (2011) will also be part of the program.

The film Wild Life (NFB) by acclaimed filmmakers Amanda Forbis and Wendy Tilby, in the running for this year's Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film category, will also be shown at Clermont-Ferrand. Watch the trailer for Lipsett diaries and a discussion with Theodore Ushev below:
