Steakhouse by Špela Čadež Gets European Film Awards Qualified
Slovenian director Špela Čadež (Nighthawk, Boles) has her latest film, 'Steakhouse', is now a candidate for the 2022 European Film Awards during the 2021 edition of PÖFF Shorts, Tallinn. The film was part of its International Animation Competition.
'Steakhouse', a 10-minute co-production between Finta Studio (Slovenia), Fabian & Fred (Germany) and MIYU (France), tells a story of a dysfunctional relationship.
In the film, Franc takes great pleasure in preparing a steak. On the other side of the city Liza is hurrying from work. The apartment is thoroughly engulfed in smoke. She extinguishes the damage, but the anger growing in Franc cannot be extinguished so easily.
Jury Statement: Masterfully using the multilayer cut-out technique, layer by layer the author reveals the tense relationship of a long-standing couple. Psychological violence experienced in everyday life gets a tangible revenge.
'Steakhouse' is now a candidate for the 2022 European Film Awards (Category: European Short Film). When the annual cycle is completed, the participating festivals will nominate five short films from the full candidates' list. Afterwards, the more than 4,000 members of the European Film Academy – film professionals from all over Europe – will vote for the overall winner that will be presented at the 35th European Film Awards Ceremony.
