♠ UniFrance Discussion Series #4: Successful strategies to promote French animation worldwide".
Notes

Annemie Degryse, Lunamine & Lumière (Belgium): Series market works better online than features.
Benoit Berthe Siward (The Animation Showcase, UK): Long-term strategies have resurfaced during the pandemic. Filmmakers now take a step back and re-think their strategy
Kristina Frajtic, Blitz (Croatia): Animation production has not stopped, but it has its caveats in terms of distribution. Especially, when dubbing is concerned, there is no way to circumvent this barrier in the absence of financing.
Chance Huskey (GKIDS): Not many French films can actually cross-over so easily the US market, as Triplets of Bellevile and Persepolis did back in the  2000s. Need to market them in a different way

Annecy Review: Beauty Water by Kyung Hun Cho

♠ Kropka writes about his Short Competition I standouts:

  • Carne by Kamila Carter: Tough but necessary reflection of the female body seen as "meat" in its transitory phases, and as a limit of personal development.
  • Time o´ the Signs by Reinhold Bidner: Sharp reflection about the society of tiredness.
  • Genius Loci by Adrien Merigeau: Bohemian and fluid narrative that dazzles with its geometry and concept design.
  • Something to Remember, Niki Lindroth von Bahr: Sober and melancholic animation about brief memories that we will eventually forget.
