'Steakhouse', 'Flee', 'Luce and the Rock' Win at Anima Brussels 2022

anima-festival-2022

It was the hybrid, 41st edition of  Anima, the Brussels International Animation Film Festival (26 Feb - 6 Mar 2022), which succeeded in attracting around 30,000 spectators in theaters (plus 25,000 streams in its Anima Online platform).

The Oscar-nominated animation documentary 'Flee' by Jonas Poher Rasmussen was one of the big winners in the ceremony, winning both the best feature film and the audience award for best animated feature. In the verge of marriage to his long-time boyfriend, a successful academic in Denmark is confronted with a secret from his past.

The chilling Steakhouse by Slovenian animation director Špela Čadež won the Grand Prix for a Short Film.

In the film, Franc takes great pleasure in preparing a steak. On the other side of the city Liza is hurrying from work. The apartment is thoroughly engulfed in smoke. She extinguishes the damage, but the anger growing in Franc cannot be extinguished so easily.

After her film 'Catherine', Britt Raes scored another victory at the Belgian animation festival. Her children animation short, 'Luce and the Rock' won the award for Best National Short. This is her second win in this category.

Luce lives a happy life in a peaceful little village, together with Mom and the Villagers. Every day is the same, and that’s the way everyone likes it. The only thing that scares Luce is the dark – but luckily her little lightsticks keep her safe! One day a giant Rock Creature disturbs the quiet life in the village. He destroys all the houses including Luce’s! Luce is angry and determined to take the Rock Creature back to his home. But the Rock might have more in common with Luce than she first thought -Film Synopsis
