Hiroshima 2012 Animation Festival: selection results
66 short animated films works were selected from the competition committee among 2,110 entries submitted.
The Oscar-nominated Dimanche (Patrick Doiion), Theodore Ushev and his Nightiningales in December, the Japanese Koji Yamamura and his foray into animation history with Muybridge's Strings are among the contestants.
The newest film by the Portuguese Regina Pessoa, Kali the little vampire is also among the contestants, and Juan Pablo Zaramella with the pixilated Luminaris seeks an award.
The 2012 Hiroshima International Animation Festival has also scheduled a Peter Lord (Aardman) special programme.
A retrospective of the Czech puppet master Jiří Trnka is among the programme highlights, and a tribute to Norway is also part of the festival.
