Rick and Morty Creator Dan Harmon Comes to Fredrikstad Animation Festival
One of the most spectacular creators in comedy, Emmy-award winning writer, creator and producer Dan Harmon is heading to Fredrikstad Animation Festival 2019, which takes place from 24 to 27 October, to participate in a moderated discussion at the House of Literature in Fredrikstad.
Dan Harmon, along with Justin Roiland, created the Adult Swim animated series Rick & Morty, which premiered in December of 2013 and quickly became a ratings hit. Season three cemented the series as a cultural icon, broke records as 2017’s #1 comedy in key demos, and earned the series an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program. Last year, Adult Swim renewed the series for 70 new episodes.
Having a comedic mastermind of Dan Harmon’s caliber guest Fredrikstad is a dream come true for our festival. Animation has a strong history as a vehicle for satire and comedy, and the uncanny wit and taste for the absurd that Harmon brings to the table really is taking this tradition to a whole new level. He’s an outstanding representative of the cutting edge of animated comedy and we couldn’t be more excited to present him to our audience at this year’s Fredrikstad Animation Festival - Anders Narverud Moen, festival director.
Harmon has a broad career as a producer, writer, creator and actor. Prior to Rick and Morty, he created and executive produced hit comedy series Community, which ran for five seasons on NBC and a sixth on Yahoo. Dan also starred in documentary Harmontown, which chronicled his live podcast tour by the same name, and executive produced the Oscar- nominated animated feature film Anomalisa.
Harmon serves as executive producer on the third season of HarmonQuest on VRV, returning August 2019, a fantasy comedy adventure series that melds live action comedians, a live studio audience, and animated sequences.
Dan Harmon is scheduled to do a Q&A session at the House of Literature in Fredrikstad on the evening of Friday 25 October.
