Ottawa International Animation Festival announced its selection results for the 2013 edition. See some of the highlights.
The Ottawa International Animation Festival received a total of 1926 entries from 76 different countries this year.
Of those, 98 short films and 8 feature films were chosen for competition. In addition, 50 showcase films were chosen to represent the efforts of the Canadian, International, and Student communities.
Phil Mulloy returns to OIAF after his awarded feature (in 2011) Dead But Not Buried. His third instalment of the Christies' series, The Pain and the Pity, is one of the not-to-be-missed noir films at the festival.
Don Hertzfeldt has assembled the 3 short stories of everyday Bill into a feature, It's Such A Beautiful Day [review], and enters into feature competition.
The irreverent (and dead) Graham Chapman is always a fit subject for a festival which takes pride in screening varieties of twisted animation.
His fake autobiographical story is represented by 14 UK animation studios in A Liar's Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Graham Chapman.
Unlike the Annecy festival, OIAF has selected no feature films out of competition. Here's the whole list:

- Ánima Buenos Aires ,María Ramírez CT Producciones, Caloi en su Tinta, Argentina
- Couleur De Peau: Miel (Approved For Adoption) Laurent Boileau & Jung Mosaïque Films, Artémis Productions, France & Belgium

OIAF separates its short competition categories into narrative and experimental animation. Joanna Priestley (Split Ends), the Oscar-awarded Thomas Stellmach with his Virtuoso Virtual, and the new film of Theodore Ushev, Gloria Victoria are among the contestants.
Chris Landreth with his Annecy-awarded Subconscious Password features in the narrative category.
The Dutch artist Rosto presents his new effort Lonely Bones, and Emma De Swae & Marc James Roels continue their festival tour with the multi-awarded Oh Willy...
Jérémy Clapin (Skhizein) narrates a tale of a boy and a bird in Palmipédarium, and the previous Ottawa winner Ben Cady (The goat and the well) participates in the graduation section. See all selection results.
Carolina López Caballero, Elliot Cowan, Ged Haney, Fran Krause, Fran Krause , Michèle Lemieux, and Megan Turnbull comprise the OIAF International jury.
