Festival Description:
Organizer of the Rising of Lusitania-AnimaDoc Film Festival is Animation Across Borders. The base of the Rising of Lusitania - AnimaDoc Film Festival is an international competition dedicated entirely to animated documentaries. The first recognized example of animadoc (animated documentary) is Winsor McCay's short film “The Sinking of the Lusitania” (1918, 12-minute-long), which uses animation to portray the 1915 sinking of RMS Lusitania.
Call for Entries 2026
- The base of the Rising of Lusitania - AnimaDoc Film Festival is an international competition dedicated entirely to animated documentaries
- Under the name of “animadoc” / “animated documentaries,” the Organizer understands the movie that combines animation with the documentary context or documentary approach.
- For the Competition, the fesitval accepts animated documentaries, from all over the world, done in any animation technique, not longer than 30 minutes (with closing credits), where the animation is at least 90% of the full movie length and realized after January 1st, 2024.
Submission to the competition is free of charge.

The festival trailer
Piotr Tokarz - born in '94, a student at the Wrocław Academy of Fine Arts, majoring in Media Art. He started to be interested in animation during his studies, but before that he tried his hand at creating films, mainly music videos. On a daily basis, he works as a graphic designer, and in his spare time he realizes himself in the artistic field. In his works, he experiments with various techniques, looking for an appropriate visual means to express himself.
